Thanks to the Heesen Yachts team for our invitation for SYM Superyacht Management to attend the 2020 Ski Cup, which took place at the end of January, and proved to be an excellent kick start to what we are expecting to be a very busy year.
With proceedings starting at the shipyard in Oss, Holland, the home of this pedigree superyacht builder, and together with a select group of brokers, we took an in depth look at all current 'in-build' projects, and were allowed a sneak preview into some very exciting future projects for which the shipyard has recently been commissioned.
This part of the invitational proved to be incredibly informative, and despite several recent visits, this meticulously organised and structured shipyard never fails to impress!
We particularly love “Project Triton” which is due for completion in the coming weeks. This 50 Metre Steel and Aluminium, Clifford Denn designed vessel, with interior design by Reymond Langton, represents the best opportunity in this sector of the market for 2020.
Once the shipyard tour was complete, we headed straight to the Italian Dolomites and the beautiful resort of Alta Badia where the fun continued with a 2 day ski around this UNESCO World Heritage site.
As is the tradition on the final day, a timed dual slalom course was set up to allow the attending brokers to pit their wits and skills against each other. Yacht brokers are pretty well known for their incredible competitiveness, so it was no surprise to see Ben Young come away with the winner's trophy, a beautifully polished, stainless steel ski which now takes pride of place in his office in Golfe Juan. It turns out all those years as a ski bum were not completely wasted !
We look forward to working with Heesen in the near future.
