We are delighted to annouce that the project we helped take from concept in 2014 to delivery in 2018 won two awards during the Superyacht Design Symposium in Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy, on January 27 th.

The Boat International Design & Innovation Awards focus directly on fundamental superyacht design aspects such as naval architecture, exterior design, deck & interior layout and aesthetics, lifestyle features and tenders, recognising the specialist skills of the industry’s most talented design teams.

The 2019’s symposium theme was ‘Defining Innovation’ and leading superyacht designers and shipyard CEOs joined yacht owners and representatives from across the industry.

Two of these prestigious awards were presented to Volpini 2, firstly the award for the Best Ecological Design and Operation Innovation which recognises the “most significant investment in design solutions, on board equipment and operational procedures that contribute to improvement of its environmental performance beyond the minimum levels required by mandatory international regulations on environmental protection”.

The second award of the night bestowed upon Volpini 2 was a special Judges’ Commendation for Best Lighting Design. Created by design team Reymond Langton, the judges all remarked on the sophistication of Volpini 2’s interior lighting. With innovative lighting features onboard such as stair treads that appear to float on glowing risers and ambient light that escapes from pockets stitched into walls - the lighting onboard this yacht stood out the most amongst the interior entrants.

Congratulations to Hans Konings and the entire AMELS design team for their incredible ground breaking work in producing the worlds first Tier III compliant Superyacht.
