SYM Superyacht Management have since 2006 managed a dashing Predator 55’ day boat on Arneson drives. As a stalwart of the fleet, regularly thrashing up and down the French Riviera at +50 knots, like all performance engines, the time comes for a complete overhaul requiring their removal and complete rebuild.

This week saw the technical team oversee the removal of both engines and the subsequent works will, on behalf of the Owners, be followed very closely by the team as part of the service that SYM Superyacht Management offers its clients.

The full extent of the work is standard procedure and may be considered time-consuming but effectively allows the boat to get back on track for more top speed fun in the sun.

First of all a complete dismantle of the cockpit and removal of the tender garage moulding is undertaken. Subsequently then the removal of the deck takes place before uncoupling the engines and precariously removing them from the yacht by crane.

What SYM Superyacht Management team undertakes on behalf of Owners in such instances is to pull together the various subcontractors to make this delicate job happen.

These subcontractors include engineers, teak deck specialist, boat builders for the removal of the deck down to the crux of the lifting crane company for the heavy lifting. Overseeing the works from A-Z is essential and a project that the team excel in.

Given the fragile task at hand, everything needs to be meticulously handled to protect the yacht and as a team of professionals, SYM Superyacht Management makes sure that all of this is tied together in the most flawless manner.

The advantage of such works taking place means that while the engines are out, there is an opportunity also to freshen up the engine spaces by adding new exhaust lagging and replacing the pumps and pipework. In the case of the Predator 55’ this is precisely the case and is planned in the forthcoming weeks as part of the overall maintenance process.
